Samsung: Niantic would develop a Harry Potter game exclusively for Galaxy smartphones

While Google and Nintendo are already major shareholders of Niantic, it seems that Samsung is also looking to invest in the studio behind Pokémon Go. The goal would be to have an exclusive on one of the next games of the developer.

While Harry Potter Wizards Unite, the upcoming Niantic studio game, is due out sometime next year, it looks like the developer is also working on another game in the Harry Potter universe. This new development would in fact be a good exchange of ideas with Samsung as the Inquirer explains.

The website explains that Samsung would have decided to invest 40 million dollars in the development studio. In exchange, he asked Niantic to develop an exclusive Harry Potter game that will be reserved for Samsung Galaxy devices. A strategy that the Korean manufacturer had already observed when the release of Fortnite on Android, first released exclusively limited on its own smartphones. For the game Harry Potter however, the application should be preinstalled on Samsung devices and not out on those of competing manufacturers.

We do not know what will be the Harry Potter game developed by Niantic for Samsung. "We do not know yet whether it will be a reworked version of Harry Potter Wizards Unite, which will be released in 2019, or a brand new game developed for Galaxy devices," says The Inquirer. We could learn more about this partnership between the two actors during the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S10, expected for next February at the Mobile World Congress.
